Fair River – Beautiful Blue Wedding
Fair river! in thy bright, clear flow Of crystal, wandering water, Thou art an emblem of the glow Of beauty- the unhidden heart- The playful maziness of art In old Alberto’s daughter;
But when within thy wave she looks- Which glistens then, and trembles- Why, then, the prettiest of brooks Her worshipper resembles; For in his heart, as in thy stream, Her image deeply lies- His heart which trembles at the beam Of her soul-searching eyes.
To The River — Edgar Allan Poe
Inspired by the Ribble Valley and the river running through Gisburne Park, this shoot was created to give some inspiration to this new wedding venue. I wanted the shoot to be pretty, elegant, timeless and romantic to inspire brides how they can get that beautiful look on their wedding day.
The house within the venue is available to hire all week for your wedding, it’s an exclusive luxury to have this so we wanted the newly renovated house to feature within the shoot too. The downstairs has an open plan kitchen opening up into a conservatory looking onto the river flowing through the grounds. Upstairs the bridal suite is incredible and such a beautiful space for the wedding party to get ready in. With a huge dressing area and traditional Chesterfield chairs furnished in pretty neutral pastels, it’s just a lovely backdrop to have your wedding prep photos. Not to mention the roll top bath to have a soak in the night before!
The isolated table in the open field shows how effective an outdoor wedding set up can be on a wedding day. It’s very rare we have the weather in the UK so we thought let’s use is as much as we can. The look and feel of this almost captures a French chateau vibe with outdoor dining in the open Lancashire countryside. The pale blues reflect the motion of the river and it was an opportunity to inspire a blue toned wedding especially showcasing how to use blue florals within your wedding. The flowing calligraphy from Sally Jane was nestled on the table and sat elegantly with the crockery and glassware.
The florals from River and Rose added to the fine art look we wanted to create. Kirsty is incredibly talented at what she does and the centrepieces not only looked beautiful, they smelt amazing too, you just can’t get that from looking at the photo, but trust me, they did! The combination of roses and thistles in the bouquet reflected the Lancashire countryside of being wild and organic. Foraged greenery was added to bring the venue’s nature right into the design.
The floral arrangements on the table added height to the design which cleared space for the intricate and delicate glassware and crockery from Whitehouse Event Crockery. I wanted to create a wedding look that couples could recreate for their wedding day and used only items available on the wedding market and suppliers. The hints of gold come through in small metallic accents within the gold rimmed glasses, the candle holders, cutlery and the stags. Deer live throughout the Gisburne Estate so we wanted to get these guys into the scheme somehow and these cake toppers from Where the Ribbons Ends were the perfect touch.
To the cake or two! When Gayle from Where the Ribbon Ends arrived with two incredible cakes plus cute macaroons, I was blown away. Not only is this girl super friendly, god can she make a cake! They were amazing. I personally am a little fed up of seeing a wedding cake on a white linen table cloth at a wedding and sat in the corner for no one to see, so we decide to really show off these works of art by displaying them on a pretty side table with flowing ribbons from Bertie and Fred. A perfect setting to photograph the sapphire rings and earrings from the London Victorian Ring Company.
The hair and makeup by Cary’s was timeless and classic. A style that won’t go out of fashion and one that brides yearn for. The Watters WToo dress supplied by The White Yard was grey tinted and just sooo pretty. The shape, the detail and style just perfect for the look we wanted to create.
Gisburne Park has an amazing entrance to the grounds and I knew we had to do something here, I got in touch with Clive at Luxury Classic Jaguar Hire who let us feature one of his absolutely incredible fleet! The beige car was just the icing on the cake for the luxury vibe we wanted to create.
